Heather M. Beam joined Harris, Creech, Ward & Blackerby upon being admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2010.  She concentrates her practice in the defense of professional liability claims against physicians, nurses, and hospitals, defense of personal injury claims, general civil litigation, and appellate practice.

Ms. Beam is a native of Stanley, North Carolina.  She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006, with a double major in Political Science and Psychology.  After completing her undergraduate studies, Ms. Beam received her Juris Doctor in 2010 from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, graduating cum laude in the advocacy track.  Her honors include being Comments Editor on the Campbell Law Review, placing second in the 2008 Campbell Law School Intramural Moot Court Competition, a member of the ABA National Moot Court Team, and selection as a member into the Order of Old Kivett for having excelled in advocacy competitions.

During law school, Ms. Beam stayed busy gaining legal experience outside the classroom.  Ms. Beam clerked for a private law firm, where she participated in all stages of the litigation process.  In this position, she gained trial experience and successfully assisted in writing an appellate brief for the North Carolina Court of Appeals.  Additionally, Ms. Beam volunteered her time as a legal intern for the Guardian ad Litem program.
