Heather M. Beam
Heather M. Beam joined Harris, Creech, Ward & Blackerby upon being admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2010. She concentrates her practice in the defense of professional liability claims against physicians, nurses, and hospitals, defense of personal injury claims, general civil litigation, and appellate practice.
Ms. Beam is a native of Stanley, North Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006, with a double major in Political Science and Psychology. After completing her undergraduate studies, Ms. Beam received her Juris Doctor in 2010 from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, graduating cum laude in the advocacy track. Her honors include being Comments Editor on the Campbell Law Review, placing second in the 2008 Campbell Law School Intramural Moot Court Competition, a member of the ABA National Moot Court Team, and selection as a member into the Order of Old Kivett for having excelled in advocacy competitions.
As part of her practice, Ms. Beam maintains an active presence in the state trial and appellate courts. Appellate decisions in which Ms. Beam has been involved include, but are not limited to , Metts v. New Hanover Regional Medical Center, 221 N.C. app. 669 (2012) and Bruns v. North Carolina Farm Bureau Mut. inc., 763 S.E. 2d 16 (2014). Additionally, Ms. Beam enjoys volunteering her time, and her volunteer positions have included, among others Vice President (2013-2014) and President (2014-2015) for the Craven County Bar Association.
