HCWB is the current evolution of a firm started in 1990 by attorney Tom Harris, listed as one of the 2011 Best Lawyers in America, a man who has honed a national reputation as an accomplished trial lawyer over his 40 years of practice. From his first years practicing in his home state of Kentucky, Tom Harris dedicated himself to championing excellence in the practice of law. Today, attorney Harris captains a firm known throughout the state of North Carolina for its outstanding litigation and transactional legal services.

Harris & Associates expanded judiciously over the years, as Harris first partnered with lawyer-scholar David Creech to meet growing client needs. Two years later, Britt Blackerby came abroad contributing his negotiation and trial advocacy skills. The firm’s reputation as a premier litigation firm continued to grow as did its line of litigation attorneys with the addition of Simpson, Refinski-Knight, and Merritt. Finally, 1997 saw the partnership grow to today’s full-service business firm of Harris, Creech, Ward & Blackerby. P.A. when prominent transactional specialist Tom Ward joined the team.
